On April 5th, students and staff from different CEDEI programs came together in a day of community service to mark World Health Day.  CEDEI collaborated with the Cantonal Health Council of Cuenca and the Municipal Sanitation Company of Cuenca (EMAC) to carry out a reforestation and waste collection project in Parque Paraiso (“Paradise Park”).

Sixty-seven Ecuadorian and international students participated, from the Student Teaching, Spring Semester, and English Access Microscholarship programs, along with members of the International Programs staff.  Everyone worked together to contribute to environmental conservation in Cuenca.

The Access Microscholarship Program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State in cooperation with CEDEI, provides the opportunity for high-performing students from low-income families to take courses in our English Program.  Thirty students are currently enrolled in classes as part of the program.
