One enjoyable way to learn about another culture is to learn about its food. The students of the Fall Education group will experience this as they learn to cook typical Ecuadorian dishes this week.
The group consists of 10 students from Iowa State University and University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, both of the United States, who are studying in CEDEI's Department of International Programs. This group is carrying out student teaching assignments in the morning and attending classes in the evenings.
The students will learn the secrets of cooking fritada, which uses pork its main ingredient. They'll also prepare mote pillo, which uses egg and corn, as well as encebollado and locro de papas. All of these are traditional dishes of Cuenca.
Additionally, CEDEI is currently hosting the Fall Semester group, with 14 students from different universities in the United States.
