The charm of the landscape, the variety of crafts and its delicious cuisine make Azuay a special place to cross it. This weekend, the Fall Semester in the Andes group will visit different places of this province.
The tour will start in San Bartolomé, where the students will taste the famous “delicados” and a delicious natural tea made with medicinal plants. Then they will visit a workshop of stringed instruments, where they will learn a little about their history and process.
Later on the excursion, the students will visit Chordeleg, a place that hosts different workshops and stores that sell jewelry in gold, silver and other precious metals. Furthermore, they will visit the “Filigree Museum”, where they will observe a collection of items made by skilled goldsmiths of that place.
This visit will also have a cultural excursion to Gualaceo, where they will go to the market and can observe the fruits, vegetables produced in the region. Moreover, they will walk through the Santa Bárbara river side in which they can enjoy of a beautiful natural landscape. The tour ends at the workshop "Macanas", where they will learn about how the local artisans elaborate beautiful shawls, garments and typical clothes of this region.
After this interesting tour, the students will return to Cuenca in order to continue with their program in CEDEI.
